What is ROM and RAM?
Those of you who use a smartphone or computer, wonder what exactly this ROM is So let's know what ROM is because whenever you take a computer or smartphone, this word is heard and its size should be more on mobile. When you buy a mobile, you will see that the internal memory is 32 GB but looks 29 GB and then it is even less. So we tell why this happens, we also tell you that there are many types of ROM, it changes from day to day.
So, let's talk about what is ROM and its types
ROM is only part of one kind of primary memory, a computer has two types of primary and secondary memory. Primary memory consists of two types, one is RAM and the other is ROM and the full name of ROM is Read-Only Memory, we can just read this memory, there is a fixed program in it, we can say permanent memory. We cannot change this program easily. When we buy a computer, the BIOS program already exists in it.
It helps in starting the system and it links the BIOS and operating system. And these BIOS already exist in the new computer and the name of the memory where it found is ROM. Let's take an example. Firmware software program which is attached to the hardware and whatever program is there in the firmware can also be in ROM chip. This memory is also called non-volatile memory. This memory is made only when computers are made and we use it not only for computers and mobiles but also for many other devices like washing machines, oven, T.V, A/C, lift, etc. So there are many types of ROM due to changing technology. Here, the computer is started by a software called Firmware which resides in ROM.
ROM:
1). ROM stands for Read-only memory.
2). The instructions in ROM prepare the computer for use.
3). These instructions can only be read but can’t be changed or deleted.
4). ROM stores data and instructions permanently.
5). When the power is switched off, the instructions stored in ROM are not lost.
6). That is why ROM is known as non-volatile memory.
Types of ROM
1). PROM
2). EPROM
3). EEPROM
1). PROM: PROM stands for programmable read-only memory. This form of ROM initially blanks the user or the manufacturer can write data and programs on it using special devices. The user can write data and instructions on it only once if there is an error in writing instructions the error can’t be removed from PROM the chip becomes unusable.
2). EPROM: EPROM stands for Erasable programmable read-only memory. This form of ROM initially blanks the user or manufacturer can write data and programs on it using special devices and can write data and programs on it using special devices the data and program written on it can be erased with special devices using ultraviolet rays. The user can write a new program on it.
3). EEPROM stands for Electronically Erasable Programmable Read-only Memory the contents electronically. The content of EEPROM can be modified easily.
Now we will know what is RAM when we take a new mobile or system, then the same question remains in your mind that how much RAM you should take. So that in the future you do not have to face any problem, if you talk about mobile or laptop, then it is a very important thing. Suppose you work in an office and you have a file from another room, then you will go to that room and then bring it in exactly the same way RAM works. Opening an application quickly can be useful and nowadays we sit and open many applications i.e. multitasking.
So, therefore, there should be at least 2 GB of RAM so that the mobile phone can be free to hang. The rest, if you can look at a 3 GB or 4 GB mobile phone, it provides a lot of speed. If you want to do multitasking then you should take 3 GB or more because Ram is something that cannot be increased. However, the computer has the option to increase the RAM, while the mobile may not have this option.
